11-25-2007 5:41 PM -- By: George Magembe,  From: Florida

Dear Sonia and the Family, When somebody dies, a cloud turns into an angel, and flies up to tell God to put another flower on a pillow. A bird gives the message back to the world, and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry. People disappear, but they never really go away. The spirits up there put the sun to bed, wake up grass, and spin the earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the day-time, when they're supposed to sleeping. They paint the rainbows and also the sunsets and make waves splash and tug at the tide. They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes. And when they sing wind-song they whisper to us, don't miss me too much I'm doing just fine.

I'm wishing you comfort and peace at this difficult time. KC will live on in hearts of everybody who loved him.

Io The Family of Kanyama Chiume:

My deep and sincerest sympathy is extended to you in the passing of your loved one. I met him in 1962, when I visited Malawi as part of Operation Crossroads Africa and followed his career afterwards. Since then I have had a special affinity for the country and its people. As a student of the life, culture and history of Malawi, Kanyama Chiume occupies a revered place in the colonial and post colonial history of the Nyasaland/ Malawi. His role in the independence movement is undisputed. He was a true patriot. He earned his place in history. In addition he was a great human being. May he rest in peace.

11-24-2007 6:18 PM -- By: TENGENEZA J M,  From: TANZANIA-DAR

It is a great sorrow and grief for lovers of people and peace, not from Tanzania but from all parts of the world. Mzee Kanyama Chiume W.M is our babu and we real loved him, like Mwl. Nyerere,Chiume has been in the hearts of Tanzanians and will remain so for ever. Tears are uncontrolable on hearing and receiving his death news. We were not infored that mzee waas sick so for us it is a big shock! We are not threre to just blame anyone, we cant do that because God is the last and right decission maker on our lives. As you can count mzee was born in the month of november and has been called to rest the same month of november, differing ten days with those ones our beloved bibi, Nyankata Jesi. For Tanzanians, it is tears every corner;Kiberege, Dar, Tabora,Mazengo-Dodoma,Mafia,Mbeya just to mention a few. I am not sure how many out of the six figures(ministers) founders of the government of Malawi who are still alive thus;Chirwa, Bwanausi,Chisiza,Msonthi and Chogani. I can say for we Tanzanians,NYIFWA YAJURIKA! We are anxiously waiting for arrangements here in Dar so as to pay our last respect, Poooleni sana.

Regards, Julius
