My condolences to the family of Mzee Kanyama Chiume, I had a pleasure of spending a month with him in Nkata Bay in his holiday resort namely 'Banana Groove'. We use to talk alot about politics and his work, but of all things I can say he was a very proud dad, he loved each and everyone of his children. He loved you all regardless and he was glad that you all made a good life in America. May The good lord rest his soul in Peace. AMEN

Nimeguswa na kushtushwa na taarifa za msiba za mmoja wa mababa wa Afrika Mzee Kanyama Chiume.

Nilimfahamu mzee huyu kupitia katika maandishi ya historia. Akiwa mmoja wa waasisi wa mapambano ya ukombozi wa taifa lake, Malawi na hatimaye muasisi wa Vuguvugu la Afrika Moja (Pan Africanism).

Alikuwa shujaa wa ukombozi wa nchi yake na Bara lake la Afrika.

Nilikutana naye mwaka 1997 hapa Dar es Salaam na nikafanya naye mahojiano ya zaidi ya saa 3 nikiwa mwandishi wa habari. Nilifahamu mambo mengi kuhusu kile alichopigania na kukisimamia. Kwa hakika najivuna kwamba mimi ni mmoja wa wana familia yake kimawazo na kimatendo.

Daima atabakia kuwa mmoja wa walimu wangu wa masuala ya siasa, uzalendo, Uafrika na mpinzani mkubwa wa uonevu, rushwa na mambo yanayofanana na hayo.

Ni moja ya mifano adhimu ya viongozi wa Kiafrika. Nilimpenda akanipenda pia. Mungu ailaze pema roho yake. Naona fahari kupata fursa ya kumfahamu na kupata kukutana na mzee huyu. Afrika imepata pigo kubwa.

I only found stories about Kanyama. I was born in 1975, meanwhile Kanyama had already gone in exile.

Kanyama deserves the heroship in as far as his works in a fight for Malawi's freedom is concerned. only that he fought without support because that time Malawi was still young, and still in a deep sleep (I assume).

I am sorry for his demise.

May his soul rest in an eternal life.

Dear Kwacha, Mgeni, Nathan, William Sonia and all, The death of our dear uncle is a great loss to the entire family, we loved him but God loved him most. As you are mourning, we too are mourning with you. May the Almighty God comfort you and give you courage during this trying time. For the little time we stayed with him here in Mw, he was a loving father to all of us, he was always quick with his brilliant adeas and very resourceful, he was a man full of wisdom and we will miss him greatly. Sad that mum (Mary) passed on earlier, never waited to see his brother for the last time, the two were like twins in the family, I pray that their souls meet and rejoice in God's glory.
